Guidance on passing on a message without confirming or denying whether an individual is a student If a third party wants to contact a student, where appropriate, you should offer to forward a message to the student with details of the enquiry, so the student can decide for themselves whether to contact the third party. Do this without saying whether or not an individual is or is not a student. For example this is an appropriate way to respond to an enquiry from a friend or family member of a student who has lost touch with someone they believe to be a University of Edinburgh student.
